NCARC 9 September 2021

Trustees Meeting Minutes:

The September 2021 meetings were held at the Strongsville Library and also

with ZOOM. 

 

Meeting opened by NCARC Vice President Tom K8DMM at 1844 hours.

The following members were present: Tom K8DMM, Fred WB8UDA, Bobbie

SWL, Norbert N8KJT, Joe N8QXC, Paul WB8CYI at the Strongsville

Library. Dan KB8A, Mary Lou K8MLS, Tom WD8EFF, Heidi WD8EFK,

Tom WB8LCD, Cory W3JL (@1900) on Zoom video.

There were six (6) members present at the library. There were five (5)

members and two (2) guests on Zoom video for a total of thirteen (13) people.

 

Approval of minutes: Rick K8SCI made a motion to approve the July 2021

minutes. Norb N8KJT seconded. Motion passed. Rick K8SCI made a motion

to approve the August 2021 minutes. Fred WB8UDA seconded. Motion passed.

 

Treasures report: Dan KB8A reported that the VFW Post 6676 made a

donation to the club which could be to by new computers. Also the club has

money in the bank and the bills are paid.         

 

Awards: None

Sunshine: None

 

Fundraising: Fred WB8UDA said that the VFW Post 6676 approved a very

generous donation to the club which was mentioned in the treasurer’s report.

The officers and members thanked Fred WB8UDA for his continuing efforts

in fundraising.

 

Membership: Dan KB8A said membership roster is up to date.                         

 

Newsletter: None

 

Program: Tom K8DMM said that there will be a program after the meeting,

about 1930 hours. The Program will be presented by Cory W3JL of DX

Engineering on NVIS antennas.


Website: Rick K8SCI said website up to date.

Two meter net: More people are needed to be net control and also help is

needed to broadcast the News Line report. Any volunteers should contact

Mary Lou K8MLS.


Education: Tom K8DMM mentioned that it seems like there is no interest in

loaning of equipment to the new members and we should table the idea.

Rick K8SCI said he would like information about the loaning to put on the

website and Facebook.


Technical: Tom K8DMM said that the 440 and 220 repeaters are up and

running. He also said that for some reason the 440 repeater is down about

3db. Also helpers will be needed to check out the antenna system and feed

lines to see if that’s why the 440 repeater is low. The 220 squelch was reset.


Field Day: Tom K8DMM said that the Field Day scores have been received by

the ARRL.  

 

Old Business: Tom K8DMM said that only one purchase of the logging

software is needed for the club. The cost for one package with multiple

programs on CD will be $49.00.

 

New Business: Fred WB8UDA suggested that the club find out about the

availability of the restaurant for the Christmas dinner meeting. Rick K8SCI

asked if the club has a table at the Cleveland Ham Fest, should we promote

the CQ, CQ, CQ program. A discussion followed which included, how long

should the CQ, CQ, CQ program last, till the end of the year, or see how many

new members renew? Rick made a motion to end the CQ, CQ, CQ offer at the

end of September. Dan KB8A seconded. Motion passed 7 to 1. Dan KB8A said

he would send out by email a full column roster. Tom K8DMM said he would

send an email about the Cleveland Ham Fest and asking for volunteers to

operate the table. 

 

Tom K8DMM called for adjournment. Rick K8SCI made a motion.  Joe

N8QXC seconded. Motion passed.

 

The meeting closed at 1931 hours.

Meeting opened by NCARC Vice President Tom K8DMM at 1931 hours.

Tom K8DMM called for adjournment to start the program. Fred WB8UDA

made a motion to adjourn. Joe N8QXC seconded.  Motion passed.

NCARC 9 December 2021

Membership Meeting Minutes:

 

The December 2021 meeting was held at Santo’s Italian Restaurant in Middleburg Heights.

Meeting opened by NCARC President Steve W8IZ at 1933 hours.

The following members were present: Mary Lou K8MLS, Dan KB8A, Rick K8SCI, Steve W8IZ, Joe N8QXC, Tom K8DMM, Dennis AC8DX, Robert WB2BTI, Fred, N8AHS, Shawn KE8RMV, Fred WB8UDA, Paul WB8CYI, Norb N8KJT, Bobbie SWL. The following guests were present: Karen K8DMM wife, Charlene WB2BTI wife.

There were sixteen (16) people present

Approval of minutes: Joe N8QXC made a motion to approve the November 2021 minutes. Tom K8DMM seconded. Motion passed.                    

Treasures report: Treasurer’s report was emailed to the members before the meeting.

Field Day: Dan KB8A said that the club was first in 5A Battery category in the country.

Old Business: None

New Business: There was a long discussion about buying new computers for the club. Fred WB8UDA, Tom K8DMM, and Dennis AC8DX talked about grants to get the computers from RT3.org and others. There was a discussion about filling the Secretary position. The ARRL requires the club have a Secretary. Rick K8SCI nominated Robert WB2BTI to be the Secretary (his wife will be able to help take notes.). A vote was taken to elect Robert WB2BTI as Secretary. Robert WB2BTI was voted in as Secretary. Tom K8DMM said that the Zoom platform can record the audio from the meetings. Fred WB8UDA suggested that the club look at the bylaws about trustees’ language because there might be problems establishing a quorum.

Steve W8IZ called for adjournment. Rick K8SCI made a motion to adjourn. Joe N8QXC seconded the motion to adjourn. Motion passed.

NCARC 18 November 2021

Trustees Meeting Minutes:

The November 2021 meetings were held at the Strongsville Library and also

with ZOOM. There were technical difficulties at the library to connect to

ZOOM. 

Meeting opened by NCARC President Steve W8IZ at 1916 hours.

The following members were present: Tom K8DMM, Fred WB8UDA, Fred

N8AHS, Norb N8KJT, Joe N8QXC, Robert WB2BTI, Charlene XYL, Paul

WB8CYI, at the Strongsville Library. Steve W8IZ, Tom WD8EFF, Heidi

WD8EFK, Rick K8SCI, Shawn KE8RMV, Emilia KE8RML, Dennis AC8XD,

Dan KB8A, Mary Lou K8MLS on ZOOM.

There were eight (8) people present at the library. There were nine (9) people

on Zoom video for a total of seventeen (17) people.

NCARC President Steve W8IZ closed the trustees meeting at 1917 hours.

2021 minutes. Tom K8DMM seconded. Motion passed.

Education: Tom K8DMM mentioned that the Ohio section of the ARRL is

trying to organize statewide license classes.

Technical: Rick K8SCI said everything is OK.

Field Day: Fred N8AHS said Winter Field Day is January 28-29 2022. He also

said that Field Day is June 25-26 2022. Also Fred N8AHS and Tom K8DMM

are discussing Field Day Plans. 

Old Business: It was mentioned that the 9 December 2021 meeting will be at

Santo’s Restaurant at 1800 hours.

Nominations for officers: Offices of the President, Vice President, and

Treasurer will remain with the same people because of no opposition.

Charlene XYL volunteered to take the minutes and be the Secretary Three

Trustees were also appointed.   

New Business: There was a long discussion about buying new computers for

the club. It was decided that more research is needed. The club needs six

computers so Rick K8SCI made a motion to allow up to $3000.00 for the

computers. Fred N8AHS seconded the motion. The motion passed. Fred

WB8UDA said we should take time to honor all the veterans that served this

country.

Steve W8IZ closed the meeting at 2000 hours.

NCARC 14 October 2021

Membership: Tom K8DMM and Dan KB8A said that ten (10) people joined the club at the Cleveland Hamfest using the CQ program. Also that there are twenty-three (23) CQ members in the club and the CQ program is now closed.

Old Business: Tom K8DMM said he looking into replacing the club’s computers. A long discussion followed about everyone keep their eyes open for deals on computers and maybe form a committee to look into it.

New Business: Paul WB8CYI said that because November is club nominations, that if anyone would like the club secretary job to please step up because he doesn’t want to continue in that position. Rick K8SCI said that the Christmas dinner meeting is confirmed at Santo’s Restaurant on 9 December at 6:00 pm in a private room. And to let him know if you are coming and how many people will be with you. Rick also updated the club information to the ARRL. Then there was a general discussion about different aspects of ham radio with Emilia KE8RML and Bill K8VMC.    

Tom K8DMM called for adjournment. Dan KB8A made a motion. Rick K8SCI seconded.  Motion passed. The meeting closed at 1934 hours.
